"It is normal for players to come out emotionally during a match, but if those emotions persist, it becomes a fair play problem," Marika Boulanger.

Verbal aggressiveness, disrespect or even physical violence. Referees are sometimes accused of being biased. These issues are what Topvolley Belgium wants to help Belgium out of. Since 2022, the Flemish volleyball federation has been working with the National Lottery to promote fair play in sport. All referees receive new jerseys with the fair play logo and the Belgian flag. Referee Marika Boulanger is pleased with the jerseys: "I love them. I am proud to wear the Belgian flag like this."

The National Lottery logo will also be visible on the kits of all referees. Jannie Haek, managing director of the National Lottery, said:

"The National Lottery, with the support of all its players, has been supporting volleyball in Belgium since 2000, accounting for one of the longest running partnerships in sport. As a loyal partner of Volley Belgium, our national volleyball teams and, since 2011, also of our national volleyball league, we are committed to the sport. However, anyone who plays a sport in competition knows that referees are a crucial element in a match. They ensure that everything is fair and sportsmanlike. These values are also very important to us, because as the National Lottery, we ensure that lottery games in our country, which are inherently responsible, are fair and transparent. So we very much endorse this powerful message and are proud to adorn these handsome jerseys with our logo."

We link the National Lottery logo with the fair play logo, so that both members and non-members clearly perceive that fair play is an essential aspect that Topvolley Belgium and the National Lottery want to emphasise.
