Yellow Tigers Bounce Back and Take a Step Toward the European Championship with a Strong Win Over Denmark
The Yellow Tigers breathed a sigh of relief after a convincing victory in the European Championship qualifiers against Denmark. In Kortrijk, they redeemed themselves for their slip-up in Hungary with a straightforward 3-0 win (25-19, 25-17, 25-23).
The match began with tension, especially after the unexpected defeat in Hungary a few days earlier. However, those worries quickly faded when Pauline Martin successfully executed her first attacks. Led by setter Lien Van Geertruyden, who is participating in the national team for the first time this summer, the Tigers accelerated the pace, which proved too much for the Danes.
After a comfortable 25-19 in the first set, the Tigers gave their opponents no chance. Set 2 was also easily secured with 25-17. In the third set, Denmark’s Mikala Mogensen provided some resistance, but supersub Nel Demeyer restored order with a strong serving streak.
With this victory, the Yellow Tigers are back on track for a European Championship ticket, marking the conclusion of an almost perfect summer.
