VolleyProms 2025: The Best Players and Coaches in Belgian Volleyball Honoured
During the VolleyProms 2025, the annual gala of Belgian volleyball, the best players and coaches from the national competition were honoured. In both the women’s and men’s categories, prestigious awards were handed out, including Player of the Year, Best Young Player, Coach of the Year, Most Valuable Player (MVP), and Best Belgian Abroad. The event traditionally marks the end of the volleyball season and ushers in the period in which the national teams and beach volleyball players take centre stage. Below is an overview of the laureates among the women and men, with their achievements and clubs highlighted. At the end of this summer, the Beachvolley Proms are on the agenda.
Women
Player of the Year – Nikita De Paepe (Darta Bevo Roeselare)
Darta Bevo Roeselare was a big winner in the women’s category. Outside hitter Nikita De Paepe was voted Player of the Year, a reward for her outstanding season. She was also the top scorer of the league, underlining her crucial role in Roeselare’s attack. De Paepe consistently performed at a high level throughout the year and was awarded the highest individual honour.
Best Young Player – Tea Radovic (Darta Bevo Roeselare)
18-year-old Tea Radovic, also playing for Darta Bevo Roeselare, was named Best Young Player of the Year. Radovic made a definitive breakthrough in the league this season and proved to be a major talent for the future. That both the Player of the Year and the Best Young Player come from the same club illustrates the successful season of the Roeselare women’s team.
Coach of the Year – Bram Van Den Hove (Darta Bevo Roeselare)
Roeselare’s coaching staff was also rewarded. Coach Bram Van Den Hove received the trophy for Coach of the Year. Under his guidance, Darta Bevo Roeselare had an exceptionally strong season, with the team standing out for teamwork, progress, and results.
Most Valuable Player (MVP) – Iris Vos (Asterix Avo Beveren)
Iris Vos, playing for Asterix Avo Beveren, was named MVP for the second year in a row in the women’s category. Vos confirmed her status as a key figure for her team by once again excelling at crucial moments during the season. As a versatile player and on-court leader, she played a major role in Asterix Avo Beveren’s success. Her back-to-back MVP title highlights her consistently high level and influence in the Belgian league.
Best Belgian Abroad – Britt Herbots
The award for Best Belgian female player abroad went to Britt Herbots, one of the figureheads of the national team (Yellow Tigers). Herbots plays at the highest level in the Italian league and once again impressed this year. She was a key force for her club in Italy and reached, among other things, the play-offs and the Champions League Final Four. This award highlights her outstanding performances across the borders, serving as inspiration for Belgian talents aspiring to an international career.
Men
Player of the Year – Basil Dermaux (Knack Roeselare)
In the men’s category, Basil Dermaux of Knack Roeselare was voted Player of the Year. Dermaux, a key player in Roeselare’s attack, showed strong play throughout the past season and was a driving force behind the club’s successes. With his scoring ability and presence on the court, he helped Knack Roeselare secure new titles (including the first BeNe Conference title) and thus earned the highest individual honour among the men.
Best Young Player – Eliot De Vleeschhauwer (Decospan Volley Team Menen)
Young talent Eliot De Vleeschhauwer of Decospan VT Menen was named Best Young Player in the Belgian competition. De Vleeschhauwer, only 19 years old, made a name for himself this season as one of the revelations at Menen.
Coach of the Year – Hendrik Tuerlinckx (Volley Haasrode Leuven)
The trophy for Coach of the Year in the men’s category went to Hendrik Tuerlinckx, currently head coach of Volley Haasrode Leuven. Tuerlinckx, a former top player and multiple-time Player of the Year in the past, made an impression this season in his coaching role. Under his leadership, Haasrode Leuven experienced a strong season with clear progress. His transition from player to coach is clearly a success.
Most Valuable Player (MVP) – Gilles Vandecaveye (Decospan Volley Team Menen)
Gilles Vandecaveye of Decospan VT Menen was named MVP for the men again, just like last year. The outside hitter from Menen once again managed to make the difference and elevate his team to a higher level. Vandecaveye’s consistent performances and leadership on the court earned him the MVP title for the second consecutive year.
Best Belgian Abroad – Ferre Reggers
Ferre Reggers was crowned Best Belgian male player abroad. The young Belgian opposite, currently playing in the strong Italian league, caused a stir across the border this season. Reggers showed his talent at his Italian club with impressive statistics and was frequently named match MVP. His international performances have not gone unnoticed at home: this award recognises the player who best represents Belgium abroad.
