Ferre Reggers MVP with Impressive Numbers

22/10/2024

Anyone who follows international volleyball will notice a Belgian player being named MVP (most valuable player) almost every week.

In Spain, Tomas Rousseaux, with 12 points at 50%, was the top scorer for his team Guaguas Las Palmas, which secured a 0-3 victory at Conquerida.

However, the highlight of the week was in Italy, where Ferre Reggers was named MVP after playing a significant role in Milano's 1-3 victory against Monza. Our compatriot scored no less than 29 points with a 61% attack success rate.
Though Wout D'Heer, with 3 blocks and 10 points at 86%, was also one of the standouts for Taranto, it wasn't enough to win against Piacenza: 3-1.
In Russia, Sam Deroo and Zenit Kazan won the league's top match against his former team Dinamo Moscow with a score of 1-3.

A minor surprise in Poland, where Suwalki edged out Kedzierzyn in the tiebreak (15-13). Igor Grobelny contributed 12 points (27%) for Kedzierzyn. Gorzow couldn't extend their strong season start and lost 1-3 against Jastrzewski, despite 12 points from Mathijs Desmet (24%).

In Germany, Simon Plaskie (1 point) barely made an appearance for Recycling Berlin, but Joël Banks' team clearly outplayed Düren, coached by Christophe Achten and featuring Robbe Van de Velde (4 points – 43%) : 0-3.

In Romania, it was a 2-for-2 for Marin Dukic and his teammates at Craiova (3-0 against Unirea Dej). There was also a win for Mladost Kastela (with Simon Vlahovic): 3-1 against Varazdin in Croatia. Middle blocker Tim Bayet had one block for US Lausanne in Switzerland, which lost 3-1 against Näfels.

In Denmark, coach Dries Hoeyberghs continues to shine with his team Nordenskov, which remains unbeaten after four matches and shares the lead with V. Odense following a 3-1 win over ASV Elite.

Pauline and Charlotte Win German Showdown

The best performances by Belgian female players abroad came from Germany. Stuttgart let a 2-0 lead slip but managed to recover in the tiebreak (15-7) in their top match against Schwerin. Two compatriots contributed significantly: Pauline Martin with 16 points (57% and 2 blocks), while Charlotte Krenicki is gradually establishing herself as the starting setter for her team. She started in the lineup and added 4 points (60%).
Anna Koulberg was also on the winning side with Potsdam, where she contributed 10 points (46%) to their 3-2 win against Sühl.

Ilka Van de Vyver started in her first match for Greek team PAOK Saloniki and won 0-3 at Thiras.

In France, Britt Rampelberg continues to impress with Venelles, who won 3-1 against Le Cannet.

In Poland, the shock of the week was Chemik Police's home loss to Bielsko-Biala (2-3). While Dominika Sobolska was not on the match sheet, her team GB Lodz easily won 3-0 against Mogilno.
In Italy, Britt Herbots (7 points – 43%) was the only Belgian with a victory: 3-0 for Scandicci against Perugia. Laura Heyrman (6 points – 27% and 2 blocks) lost with Milan 2-3 against Novara.

Meanwhile, Silke Van Avermaet (3 points – 29%) must resign herself to holding the red lantern after her team Busto Arsizio lost 3-0 to Vallefoglia. (Marcel Coppens)
