U19 Young Red Dragons win opening match of WEVZA
At the Wevza in Portugal, the young Belgians won their opening match against Portugal yesterday. They had to concede the first set to the home team, but then they put things in order. It was 1-3 for the Young Red Dragons. Top scorer for the Belgians was Jasper Maerten with 18 points.
Coach Mieke Moyaert: "In the beginning of the match, our serve pressure was insufficient and our own error rate was too high. By improving both issues, we were able to put more pressure on the Portuguese. However, they remain an opponent who defends well, so the team patiently waited for chances and we kept rallying. It is good to see that we can now turn the agreements from training sessions into successes in match play. We look forward to growing next games."
