Tiebreak too much for Dries Hoeyberghs in Danish Cup

07/02/2024

In Denmark, Nordenskov did reach the cup final after a 1-3 win against Ikast, but Dries Hoeyberghs' team went down in the tiebreak (7-15) against Odense.

In Italy, Ferre Reggers (12p - 50%) contributed to Milan's 3-0 win against Catania, but Mathijs Desmet (3p - 29% with two substitutions) lost 3-0 in Verona. And Wout D'Heer had to watch Trentino win 0-3 in Monza again from the drop box.

In Russia, no joy for Sam Deroo (3p - 40%) either, who had to watch Zenit lose 0-3 against Belgorod. However, his team remains in the lead as Lokomotiv and St Petersburg also lost 3-0.

No Igor Grobelna to be seen in Poland, where Warsaw won 3-0 against penultimate Lubin.

Despite letting playmaker Jay Blankenau leave for Halkbank Ankara just last week, PAOK still held on for a 0-3 win at Polichnis in Greece thanks, among other things, to 12 points (60%) from Bram Van den Dries.

In the Netherlands, no Liam McCluskey at Orion, which did win 0-3 at Zevenhuizen.

In Croatia, Mladost Kastela, the team of our middle blocker Simon Luca Vlahovic, is in second place after a 1-3 win at Rijeka.

Kaja Grobelna European mvp at Chieri
In the CEV Cup, Kaja Grobelna was elected mvp after she accounted for 22
points at Chieri, which did first have to pick up a 2-0 deficit against Le Cannet to win 13-15 in the tiebreak. But things went wrong a few days later in Italy, where she went down 3-1 at Pinerolo. Kaja accounted for 10p - 28%). Laura Heyrman (2m - 50%) also lost with Milan (despite 22p from Egonu at 40%) at Conegliano, at whom Isabelle Haak (20p - 55%) was declared mvp in front of 5,344 viewers after a 3-0 win.

At Scandicci also 2651 viewers to see Britt Herbots (9p - 37%) win 3-0 against Milan. And 3-0 loss for Busto Arsizio (Dominika Sobolska) at Vallefoglia.

In Germany, a handicapped Dresdner (without Nathalie Lemmens and a few more base players) had to succumb 1-3 against leaders Schwerin in a match without much importance. Pauline Martin may have scored 21p - 38%- 5 blocks for Vilsbiburg, but not enough for a win against Münster: 1-3.

Mulhouse were the pine of the day in France after losing 3-1 at Venelles, despite 15 points (59%) from top markswoman Silke Van Avermaet. Elise Van Sas was also allowed to fill in in the tiebreak, giving Terville an unexpected 2-3 win over Béziers.

In Turkey 1-3 win for Nilufer (Vital Heynen) at PTT Ankara.

Two losses for Lise Van Hecke in Japan at Queenseis: 3-2 at Ageo (Lise 22p - 37%) and 3-0 at Hisamitsu (Lise 5p - 38%).

Loss in Hungary for Bekescsaba (Dominika Strumilo): 3-0 at Vasas.
Easy win for Alba Blaj (substitutes for Britt Rampelberg): 3-0 against Julien Van de Vyver's Tirgu Mures in Romania.

Loss in Greece for Markopoulou (Lara Nagels 1) who went down 3-1 at Protathliton.
