Sam Deroo wint Russische beker

05/01/2024

Little activity in most foreign competitions, but still a highlight for Sam Deroo and Zenit Kazan, which now also lifted the Russian Cup with a 1-3 win at Dinamo Moscow after the Super Cup. The third cup in a row for Kazan, which has won the Russian Cup nine times in the last ten years. Although libero Fiodorov (with 56% perfect receptions) was declared MVP, Sam Deroo more than contributed to the cup win with his 17p against 50%. The joy was dampened by the fact that coach Totolo had to leave for Italy immediately after the victory due to the death of his mother.

Volleyball was also played in Italy. Ferre Reggers also continued his momentum there and contributed 50% with his 12 points to the 3-0 win of his Milan team against Modena. Things went less well for Mathijs Desmet (4p), who lost 1-3 to Piacenza with Padua. And Wout D'Heer did not come on the pitch again, but his Trentino team did win 3-0 against Cisterna.

Small stunt in Poland, where Project Warschau (Igor Grobelna 1p) actually took the lead with a 3-0 victory against Stal Nysa.

Nathalie Lemmens strong in Germany

There is also volleyball activity among women in only a few countries. Nathalie Lemmens once again accentuated her fitness at Dresdner by contributing to the 3-1 win against Münster with 12 points (57%) and two blocks. Vilsbiburg (Pauline Martin 23p – 40% and 3 blocks) had to admit the better in Stuttgart: 1-3. And Wiesbaden had no trouble with Aachen: 3-0 (Celine Van Gestel 4p, 27%).

In Hungary win for Bekescsabac (Dominika Strumilo): 1-3 at Ujpest.

Finally, in France, a smooth 3-0 win for Mulhouse (Silke Van Avermaet 9p – 73%!) against France Avenir. Elise Van Sas (barely played) also triumphed with Terville against Quimper: 3-0.
