23/04/2024

After scoring 11 points (at 64%) in his last league match, Sam Deroo is confident that he will compete for the Russian title with Zenit Kazan. His opponent from Wednesday will be his former team, Dinamo Moscow.

In Italy, the score for the Scudetto is tied 1-1 between Monza and Perugia. Our compatriots are playing for third place, which also qualifies for the Champions League. That score is also tied at 1-1. In Trentino, Milan lost in the tiebreak, despite 24 points (50%) from Ferre Reggers. In the return match, it was 3-2 in favor of Milan (Reggers - 19 points, 33%), while Wout D’Heer (1 point, 50%) got some playing time in the final stages.

In Poland, Project Warsaw (Igor Grobelny) was eliminated in the semifinals of the playoffs after two losses to Zawiercie. Zawiercie and Jastrzewski are competing for the title. Warsaw and Rzeszow are playing for third place.

In Croatia, Simon Luka Vlahovic (9 points, 64% against Osijek) will have to compete for third place with Kastela, which lost two out of three matches in the semifinals.

In Denmark, it seems unlikely that coach Dries Hoeyberghs will win the title after his team Nordenskov lost twice to Odense in the final round.

In the Netherlands, Liam McCluskey is one step away from the Dutch title with Orion Doetinchem, leading after two tiebreaks in the match against Draisma Apeldoorn. Liam got some playing time again.

Ilka Van de Vyver is one match away from the Romanian title.

The Romanian league is also exciting. Voluntari (Ilka Van de Vyver – 4 points, 50%, 2 aces, 1 block) first won 3-1 against Alba Blaj (where Britt Rampelberg played three sets with 29% reception). Later, Voluntari secured a 3-2 victory against the same Alba Blaj (Van de Vyver – 2 points, 50%), with Britt Rampelberg playing five sets with 36% reception. In a 'best of five', Voluntari needs one more win to become the Romanian champion.

In Italy, Britt Herbots is also still in the running for the Scudetto. In the first final match against Conegliano, Britt scored the winning point for Scandicci in the tiebreak (15-17) in front of 5,031 spectators, after scoring 14 points (45% and 75% reception). The second final match also ended in a tiebreak (11-15), this time in favor of Conegliano (Herbots – 10 points, 29%, 50% reception).

Despite winning the first final against Levallois/Paris (1-3), Mulhouse failed to win the next two matches against the Parisian women, although Silke Van Avermaet gave her best with 10 points (39%) and later 12 points (59%). Therefore, the final will be Levallois/Paris versus Nantes.
