In the second set, Matthew Anderson claimed a starring role. The American world number one confirmed that with a scorching serve at set point. A true demonstration by Knack Roeselare followed in the third set. This was dominance in its purest form, a magnificent team performance. The response of the fanatical home team - 11-6 and 20-13 in the fourth set - was also handsome. Of course, the Turkish volleyballers are no pancakes either.

The tiebreak was a thriller. To claim that the final set was decided by frequent challenges is probably an exaggeration. But it was clear that millimetre-thin details were involved.
