Manon Stragier announces retirement from top volleyball

26/01/2026

Manon Stragier will retire from top volleyball at the end of this season. With 111 caps, she has been a long standing key figure within the Yellow Tigers setup.

Over the years, Stragier became a consistent presence in the Belgian national team environment. She earned 111 caps and was widely valued for her leadership, professionalism and competitive mindset.

Her decision is driven by two main reasons. On a personal level, her partner Jari De Busser is currently playing abroad, which means they see each other less. Looking ahead to their wedding in the summer of 2027, Stragier wants to create more space for their life together.

From a sporting perspective, she feels the timing is right as well. After competing at the top level in Belgium since a young age, the daily time and energy required no longer matches the level of challenge she is looking for.

Stragier hopes to close this chapter in the best possible way and looks back with gratitude on everything volleyball has given her, both as an athlete and as a person.

Topvolley Belgium and the Yellow Tigers thank Manon Stragier for her commitment and impact in the national jersey and wish her all the best for what comes next.
