19/12/2023

Kris Eyckmans (45) succeeds Koen Hoeyberghs as technical director of top-level sport at Volley Vlaanderen.
Hoeyberghs will retire in April 2024.
Eyckmans will head the operation of the national teams, youth teams and top sports schools volleyball, both indoor and beach, with immediate effect.
Together with his predecessor, he will oversee the transition and continuity.

"Kris Eyckmans is familiar with the operation of the Yellow Tigers and the Red Dragons, the operation of the top sports school and the youth selections. Also the internal operation of Volley Vlaanderen is no stranger to him" said the Volley Vlaanderen governing body. "Moreover, Kris has also been active as a manager in several other sectors"

"In recent months we have achieved great results, on the sand, in the hall, with the seniors and with the youth," Eyckmans said. "The Dragons missed the Olympics by a hair. The Van Langendonck-Vercauteren (U21) world title in beach volleyball offers a lot of perspective for volleyball in Belgium. I will now, together with the Koen, continue to monitor continuity in order to develop new emphases and angles in the foreseeable future. From today, I will start delving into the dossiers with which I have the least contact." Concludes Eyckmans.

Eyckmans will be working as club coach at Volley Haasrode Leuven until April. He will also quit as an assistant on the Red Dragons' staff.
After the season, he will devote himself fully to his task as technical director.
