Belgian Beach Calendar Presented in Nieuwpoort

12/03/2025

This week, the official calendar and the Belgian Beach Volleyball Championship were announced in the city of Nieuwpoort. With summer approaching, preparations are in full swing. Various stakeholders, clubs, players, and volunteers are working hard to elevate the Belgium Beach Tour to a higher level. Dries Koekelkoren, Head of Beach Volleyball, emphasizes the importance of these developments and the ambition to further professionalize beach volleyball in Belgium.

Growth and Professionalization of the Belgium Beach Tour
The organization aims to gradually improve the quality of beach volleyball tournaments and enhance the tour's visibility. In addition to sporting development, geographical expansion is also being realized. This year, not only recreational but also divisional tournaments will be organized in Wallonia. While a Belgium Beach event in Wallonia is still a year away, a Walloon city will certainly be added to the calendar in 2026.

An important step towards further professionalization includes improvements in logistical optimization and digitalization. A dedicated experience app for fans and players will be launched, among other initiatives. These measures are essential to further establish Belgian beach volleyball on the international stage.

Expansion Along the Belgian Coast and International Collaborations
The organization is keen to add more events along the Belgian coast. Nieuwpoort will play a key role in this expansion, with a strong passion for the sport and the ambition to establish itself as a true beach volleyball city.

Furthermore, the collaboration with the Netherlands is being strengthened. The well-known Queen & King of the Court concept will be structurally integrated into the QKOTC National Series, with stops in Haacht, Wolvertem, Ghent, and Hemiksem.

As a highlight, the partnership with SportworX (Netherlands) is being reinforced, leading to the creation of a small BeNeTour, where Belgian and Dutch teams will compete against each other in Leuven, Breda, Tilburg, and Nieuwpoort. Koekelkoren emphasizes that these international exchanges will enhance the competitiveness and level of Belgian players.

Exciting Matches on the Agenda
Beyond the growth and professionalization of the tour, we eagerly anticipate a summer full of thrilling matches and sporting highlights. The calendar offers a wide range of competitions across various locations in Belgium and the Netherlands. From Haacht to Nieuwpoort and from Breda to Tilburg, fans and players can look forward to a series of intense battles on the sand.

International Beach Pro Tour Future in Leuven
One of the highlights this summer will be the International Beach Pro Tour Future in Leuven from July 18 to 21. This tournament will provide top Belgian teams with international ambitions the opportunity to compete against world-class players and gain experience at the highest level.
