Yellow Tigers immediately on target in Japan

16/09/2023

In distant Japan, the Yellow Tigers started the Olympic Games qualifying tournament last night.

With seven games in nine days, it promises to be incredibly tough. The first hurdle was already successfully overcome today. Bulgaria went down 3-0. The numbers also all speak in Belgium's favour. The Belgians scored significantly better in all parts of the game.
Coach Vansnick looks back on the first match with satisfaction: "We started this OQT strongly. After all, Bulgaria finished 7th at the last European Championships. Serving we immediately brought the necessary pressure and our attacking performance in the first set was also excellent. The second set was more exciting but Demeyer and Krenicky brought stability. Our well-known fighter's mentality made us win the set. In the third set we faced a deficit, but we made up for it by staying focused in the back court. I am very satisfied, Bulgaria remains a direct rival in the world ranking."

Next night, 3am Belgian time, the Belgians take on Puerto Rico.
Final score Belgium - Bulgaria: 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-21)
