After recovering from a shoulder injury, Joppe Van Langendonck made an impressive comeback alongside Kyan Vercauteren by winning their second tournament together. The duo triumphed at the Future tournament in Burundi, dominating their opponents at every stage of the competition.

Van Langendonck proudly reflected on their performance: “We started on Thursday with the group stage against Burundi. On Friday, we played the quarter-finals against Germany, and on Saturday, we faced a very experienced Slovenian team in the semi-finals. We finished in the final against a young Hungarian team.”

The tournament progressed smoothly for the Belgians. “Physically, we had the upper hand, and we could impose our game on the other teams, despite the strong winds making play more challenging.”

The semi-final against Slovenia was particularly tense. “We feared Slovenia the most. One of their players had previously competed in top tournaments, such as the World Tour Finals and several 4-star tournaments,” Van Langendonck said. Despite the reputation of their opponents, the Belgians managed to secure a victory.

This win earns them crucial points, essential for qualifying for future international tournaments. With this performance, they take a significant step toward participating in larger tournaments on the world stage.
The duo looks forward to their next tournament with confidence, buoyed by their strong physical form and Joppe’s recovery from injury.
