Argentina too strong for Yellow Tigers

19/09/2023

Tonight, the Yellow TIgers could not win against Argentina. It became 0-3 (21-25, 20-25, 18-25). The next opponent is Peru, next night at 3am Belgian time.

National coach Kris Vansnick analyses the match:

"After a difficult start to the first set (3-7) after reception imprecision, we fought back through a strong serve set by Stragier to 16-15. After this, we again made some unnecessary mistakes, taking it from 20-21 to 20-23. In the second set, we cannot hold on to a 12-8 lead. Argentina increased the serving pressure and with their physically strong block we again ran into difficulties. That combined with still disruptive imperfections in block/defence and too weak serve pressure resulted in 20-25. In set 3, we reacted particularly depressed until 4-14 after which the many substitutions brought the momentum back into the team, remonstrating to 16-20. But unfortunately again unmolested in the final part of the set. Deserved 0-3 victory by a physically much stronger Argentina who have made a lot of strides under their new coach Castellani. Belgium is searching for balance and also quality again in serve and attack."
