Yellow Tigers Win in Practice Match Against Bulgaria
With a 3-1 victory, the Yellow Tigers have made a strong start to their summer campaign. During a four-day training camp in Sofia, the Tigers played against Bulgaria today, will face Ukraine tomorrow, and Bulgaria again on Saturday.
The Belgian ladies started the match well with Britt Fransen as the only newcomer alongside setter Krenicky, Herbots-Stragier, Van Avermaet, and opposite Martin, with Rampelberg as libero. Bulgaria is preparing for the upcoming start of the Volley Nations League and is further along in their preparations. However, the Yellow Tigers showed their known fighting spirit and with solid block-defense work, they took a 0-2 lead with sets of 24-26 and 16-25. It was also the moment when almost the entire starting six was replaced, and youngsters Radovic, Cos, & Koulberg came into the team. After a tough start, substitute server Nagels managed to secure the set win and an immediate 0-3 match victory.
In the fourth set, the head coach continued to rotate players, bringing in Debouck and Van Sas to the starting lineup, but this set went 28-26 to Bulgaria.
Tomorrow, therefore, they face the strong Ukraine team in another practice match.
